At the 74th Annual Hunger Games reaping Prim Everdeen ( Katniss Everdeens little sister) is chosen to represent her district at the hunger games.
Katniss does not what her little sister to go and volunteers herself up instead. The Hunger Games is a product of the ruthless Capital Regime of Panem. All 13 Districts must participate and provide 2 candidates at the reaping each year. During the games Katniss develops feelings for Peeta ( her fellow candidate from district 12) and in a series of event becomes both an enemy of the capital and the fans favourite participant. Katniss overcomes all obstacles and challenges during the game while protecting injured Peeta and eventually conquering the games and changing the rules of the Games.
