Cyberbullying in high school scholars is directly proportional to the time one spends over the internet. Youth have a tendency to use mobile phones at a higher rate in comparison to other ages. In order for parties to know proper prevention, detection, and solutions to the problem they must know what the actual problem is, which students are more at risks of becoming victims or perpetrators, as well as what leads to it and any possible solutions and/or preventions for it (Vandebosch, Poels, & Deboutte, 2014). Multiple social networks such as Facebook are working on figuring out an algorithm used to detect when a post is meant to harass students or uses harsh languages towards others with means to belittle them (Bazelon, 2013). Higher use of social media and the associated platform increases the level of cyberbullying. Currently, internet-based bullying is much more than any other form of crime.

Compromised ethical standards are all initiated online through the social media bases (Brunecz, 2014). Cyberbullying remains a challenge to society. Much has to take place in the realization of the remediation program to save young people (Vandebosch, Poels, & Deboutte, 2014). There is much that has not been addressed in reference to cyberbullying in high schools. Majority of victims of cyberbullying keep it a secret. The impact of young people keeping the challenge within them makes it hard to solve an escalated problem. Depression and stress in young people in high schools are connected to cyberbullying (Brunecz, 2014). Social disorders and unethical practices will continue to face the world if the right measures to fight cybercrime are absent.

The phenomena of bullying have taken a new scale in the recent past. Technology is now a vehicle that criminal use to propagate the physical bullying to internet-based. At each level, the cyberbullies use the same strategy of bullying but in a hidden manner that causes more fear than the physical tactics (Brunecz, 2014). Victims of bullying will first lose self-esteem and then enter a different state of denial. Young people are much vulnerable to cyberbullying due to their emotional instability. Students in high school are actively involved in social cycles over the internet where they become the prey of the crime (Bazelon, 2013). The necessity to handle cybercrime in a proactive manner gives the victims peace and reassurance.

Bullying has always been a problem even before technology was readily available for the common people (What is Bullying, 2018). Technology has changed the way kids communicate and bullying has also evolved along with technology, making it easier for perpetrators to attack victims even after school hours and weekends. Bullying back in the day before technology was accessible only consisted of physical, social and/or verbal bullying, but the victim felt safe when they arrived home and left those problems at school (What is Bullying, 2018). The problem that will be addressed in the study that will be on cyberbullying. The research conducted shows that 83% of 4,441 youths between ages 10-18 were surveyed from various schools use a cellphone at least once a week and of those surveyed, 20% experienced a hard time from their peers online (Rogers, 2014). It is an experience that raises many questions than answers on the issue of internet safety.

Cyberbullying now allows the perpetrator/s easy access into the victims’ life outside of school they can easily bully the victims even when the victim has no idea what is going on. The perpetrator can post images mocking the victim on social media and if the victim is not on any social media they are being bullied without their knowledge and when they go back to school now everyone is looking at them mocking them (Brunecz, 2014). Bullying has taken an enormous leap and not for the good but for the bad and society doesn’t realize that although we acknowledge the problem we really don’t understand it and don’t know how to fully handle the situation without making it worse for any child. Cyberbullying and bullying, in general, create very harsh effects on the victims, they may miss school to avoid the bullies, drop in grades, depression, & sadly may lead to suicide (Brunecz, 2014). All concepts of cyberbullying if handled well it will be easy to manage the repercussions.
