Approximately 1.3 million people die in road crashes every year on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of accidental occurrence are among young adults ages 15-44. Vehicle occupants involved in ‘Rural Area'(countryside) vehicular fatalities are ejected 15% most of the time, while in the ‘Urban Area'(city) 7% are ejected most of the time.
Accidents are the results of ; Teenage Driving, Rain, Speeding, Reckless Driving, Drunk Driving, etc. One of the most popular causes of Traffic Accidents is driving while intoxicated, which is an offence. Penalties include; license suspension, jail time, community service etc. Hoon drivers are one of the most reckless and dangerous road user. They drive at a very high speed that is considered highly antisocial. Examples include; Fishtailing, excessive noise and smoke. Dangerous driving is a serious offence where your driving shows a reckless disregard for public safety. It is deemed necessary to follow the road code, signs and lights.
If it is that you are under the influence of hard substances, don’t get behind the wheel. Running the red light is not only an offence but is highly dangerous and accident prone. When driving you should be doing just that and nothing else, your eyes should be on the road at all times. Safety gears are made for motorcycle to prevent major injuries. Speed limits are supposed to be maintained. Stop signs and lights are to be obeyed. Rules and regulations are set in order for all the correct reasons. I hope one day the Traffic Accident rate will miraculously decrease. Not only is it destroying vehicles, it is destroying lives. After all, a well known and respected philosopher, Desiderius Erasmus, once said ‘Prevention is better than cure’.
