The author use imagery and has a distinct tone to show that nature is unevolved savage and is constantly happening and that paint a water lily and engulfing all those minute details would be difficult. The speaker tries to help the reader by giving them instructions intended to help the reader. He wants to show that nature can be peaceful and beautiful but extremely difficult capture, due to the many factors involving nature.
