Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, is known to many as an innovator, entrepreneur, and visionary leader. Elon Musk is a philosopher when it comes to his management style. It is said that Musk operates his business as if he is nearing a perplexing engineering project deciding what works and performing it that way despite if his strategy makes no sense to other individuals. His management and corporate style include having small group meetings, ensuring that everyone in the meeting can bring value to the group or task at hand, not using acronyms or jargon phrases, and communicating one-on-one with all levels of employees. Musk believes that it is essential to communicate on a one-on-one level to avoid having to go through chains of commands, and if a manager enforces a chain of command environment, he will fire them (James, 2019).
As a visionary leader, Musk is known to put everything into his business ventures, and due to his way of being, he is not scared of undertaking obstacles that other leaders may view as unachievable. He also views feedback as a positive means of developing as a leader, and he inspires his team to do the same. Elon Musk believes that sharing honest feedback can help develop ‘people, teams, and organizational performances’ (Marsh, 2019). When Musk encounters a failure, he takes it as a lesson learned, and he is continuously researching and adjusting his strategies — modifying strategies abruptly as a leader of an organization may create confusion amongst employees. Also, Elon Musk has shown controversial leadership skills by not respecting his team members. Prominent leaders promote respect towards everyone on the team; however, Musk appears not to cultivate that model.
Elon musk has recently tweeted on his personal account that his business will go private if his stock price reach $420 a share. This has caused multiple problems for the company and his reputation as well as taking a toll on the stock market.
First off the article was about Elon musk and his decision to say that his company will go private if his stock reaches a certain price. Since this happened his stock price has dropped preventing him from following through with his plans of going private, on top of this people sat he abandoned this plan after he tweeted it and did not have the private funding needed to go through with what he said he was going to. Not only this but his position of ceo and chair holder of the company is at jeopardy because the sec are suing him and are in the process of trying to take those positions away from him.
My position in all of this is on the side of sec, I feel this because of the compelling arguments and evidence that Elon Musk lied and didn’t actually ever plan on going private even after saying so. He was in the wrong to lie to the people who funded, looked up to him, and other fans of the company saying he had funding secured and would go private if the stock price reached $420. The article was well made and worded well explaining his situation and how it could affect things in the future I defiantly think the writer of the article did well.
This effected the economy by threatening a major tank in the electric car industry. Not only did it affect his company but it affected the company’s stocks which also effected the stock holders making them less money witch could ultimately keep the tesla company in debt .since the incident Telsas stock is at 11 percent less than it was before and dropped as far as 29 percent after the tweet, this means big money that tesla is missing out on and could potentially hurt the economy and his company.
In conclusion Elon musk made a big mistake and ultimately hurt his reputation and his company which he spent millions on building it from the ground up. His stock has dropped and he is getting sued overall this was on of his worst decisions he has made in recent years and it could potentially affect tons of people worldwide.
