Huck Finn is the main character in the novel. With a very outdoorsy and adventurous personality, who doesn’t have parents and is raised by Widow Douglas. Tom Sawyer is Finn’s best friend and will do anything for him and has much money. Jim belongs to Mrs.Watson, and very devoted to her and same goes for Mrs.Watson who belongs to Jim and is BFF’s with Widow Douglas. Widow Douglas is the caretaker of Huck Finn.

Huck does not particularly get along with Miss Watson and Widow Douglas because they are both like his parents and most kids can be neglect of their parents. Both of the women are very civilized, with an education and have a very religious side to them both, while Huck is the complete opposite of them both. Making him act out and not want to tolerate them.

In Huck’s point of view, religion is a bunch of nonsense. He would rather go to hell than heaven. Huck likes to joke along with the idea of heaven and hell and there being a Christ, who he believes is like a fairy tale unreal, to say the least. The whole religious thing is like a slap in the face of jokes and humor.

A superstition is a thing people believe like when you go under a ladder it’s bad luck, good luck, karma and other things like that. Throughout the story, there are a few superstitions that happen, one is throwing salt over the shoulder which enables the presences of more good luck for one person. Another superstition is when Huck sees the footprint with the cross inside it which could indicate bad luck so each one balances out each other.

Huck and Tom are very good friends, but they both together are completely different people with completely different types of personalities. Huck is very outdoorsy and will take the risks that come in with his life. Huck is also coming straight to the point in any situation, with people when it comes to how and why he thinks something. While, Tom is sensitive and cares about how and why others want to think something, with a wild imagination and having a romantic side to all the sensitivity in him. Huck had given all of his money to Judge Thatcher because Huck knew that Pap was going to come looking for him and wanted to make sure that Pap had not used it to buy drinks for himself.

Pap Finn is the biological father of Huck Finn who is an extremely abusive person to Finn, and now is trying to come back into his life. He left when Huck was very young and has been not involved in his life ever since now, which created the tension between him and Huck. What made the abusive father act more frustration was the fact that every time Finn would be beaten, Pap was under the influence of alcohol which everybody knows clouds one’s judgment ever time.

Huck has not had a strong relationship between him and Pap Finn, his father. Such that the attitude of Huck Finn to his father is scared from the abuse of his father, creating fear through his life. Giving him trauma and fear, which allows him to shut him out from having history repeating himself. Huck is also scared when he had found the footprint with the cross in it.

When Pap Finn is mad, at Huck all the time and because Pap thinks that Huck is better than him because Huck is smarter than Pap which creates more anger towards Huck and brings back old memories. Huck had made it look like that someone broke into the cabin, killed Huck than had taken his body to the river, mostly dragging him, where he would later escape from Pap.

I know things that don’t matter to Huck leaves his materials and things behind to travel light, and when traveling tries to find things that can be able to suit his needs for survival, he does this because he had given all of his money to Judge Thatcher. Hucks death serves his freedom away from Pap, no more having to look over his shoulder, no more worrying of Pap coming home to hurt him, he can be as free as he wants to be without having harm to himself.

Huck was searching for food when, huck had found a fire in the distance, which gave him the idea to search for whoever it was that is on the island with him as well. After searching for them he found Jim who was on the island as well because Miss Watson was going to sell him to a buyer who had lived in New Orleans. Huck and Jim discover a two-story house and a secret of a man who has been shot on the back inside the boat. They, however, ignore the body and look for the things that they need for survival.

One example of man vs.society when Huck confesses to Jim that the had run off from Pap to protect himself and prevent things from his past, which then leads to the discussion of Jim running away to escape any more slavery between him and Miss. Watson. Another example is Huck does not want to be found, instead he wants to continue to be free, to do this he needs to be on alert and hidden away from everybody. The last example is Miss.Loftus describing the reward of Jim being found, and brought back when he is trying to escape te entire society against him.

The townspeople thought that the bread would lead them to Hucks body which is supposedly in the river , but it not. Jim had seen the birds in the sky and believed it meant for rain to happen, shaking a table cloth after sundown would bring bad luck , and having hairy arms would mean that you would become rich. Huck is not as superstitious about things like about the snake bits but changes when Jim actaully gets bite by one.

Some differences that are very obvious in the novel is that Huck is a young white boy while Jim, is an old, black man. Thoug as the freindhsip between them grows a similarity that occurs is the desire for freedom from the people that rui their lives everyday.

Huck goes to shore as a girl so his identity does not get seen, he needs to stay “dead”, for Pap not to find him. He went to shore in the first place to see if the towns people are still seraching for Jim and him. Huck finds out that the townspeople suspect that Pap Finn or Jim may have killed Huck.

You can find out that Jim and Huck are friends becasue Jim is putting Huck first instead of his own needs first, from his huck learns to go agaisnt his society, he starts yo learn of thinking about himself and his survival amongst the townspeople. Jim and Huck are trying to prtoect each other from any danger they may face, and know that people have discovered where thye were on Jackson’s island and needed to escape and work together to do so. Jim and Huck had come up with a great idea to borad the Walter Scott in order for investigation and being able to salvage as much goods as needed for them to survive on their own for another week.

Hucks mission is to help save Jim Turner from the slavery tha thas been hapening bcause he knew that Jim would do the same thing ig Huck was in the same position as Jim is now, with beoming purchased like an animal. Huck needs help beacause Jim turner is in danger and sends help to Walter Scott by going to shore and telling a guard there that there is an important family member of his coming to town and he needs help which is a perfect plan to send help for Jim.

Jim shows us that he comes to his own kinds of conclusions by thinking of himslef only, and is tough when it comes to changing his mind on his conclusion no matter what. Jim i scompassionate to Jim, he has his own ethics code he needs to follow including putting Huck first before himself.
