After many years being unhappy marriage, Mrs. Mallard was dreaming a bright life. Under her eyes, everything is pretty and glittering. she sees the “open window”, “tops of trees”, “patches of blue sky”; the author signifies as the new beginning for her. The reader expected that she mounts the husband’s death with heartache; however, she is thinking about a new life, “there would be no one to live for her during those coming years; she would live for herself”
