To Improve an Organization’s Performance Transformational theory leader-member theory (LMX) is a leadership theory, which is based on the relationship between leaders and other staff members. This relationship will lead to a more improved communication between the leaders and other team members, which will positively influence the member’s performance (Northouse, 2013). This relationship also enhances trust and respect in the organization, which may improve organizational effectiveness (Northouse, 2013). Organizations that have implemented transformational theory leader-member theory have an advantage of getting better replacements after former leaders have left an organization as a new leader can be selected from the other staff members to lead the other group members (Northouse, 2013).

The transformational theory leader-member theory can be applied in Kaiser Permanente Hospital to transform the leadership in the organization, which will positively impact the organizational effectiveness (Northouse, 2013). This theory can be applied by the management through assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the members of the organization and providing them with the suitable opportunities based on their strengths to enhance their skills and perform more roles and responsibilities in the organization, which will lead to a more effective organization (Northouse, 2013). Providing the members with opportunities to improve their skills is a learning process, which is important for all staff members in improving their performance (Northouse, 2013). The transformational theory leader-member theory can also be applied in Kaiser Permanente Hospital by implementing a good communication process, which will improve communication between the leaders and the staff members (Northouse, 2013).

Good communication in an organization improves trust in the organization and allows sharing of ideas, which are important in the decision-making process (Northouse, 2013). This can be achieved by having programs, which allow the staff members to participate in meetings with the management of the hospital, which will help in better distribution of roles, and responsibilities with those better placed given more consideration (Northouse, 2013). Trust will also lead to more respect for team members and the management. The management should also support members holding leadership positions with more responsibilities, which will help members, develop a good attitude to job responsibilities (Northouse, 2013).
