Like most presidents Andrew Jackson had political rivals from the opposing party, and a wife, Rachel, whom he loved dearly. Their romance was as passionate as it was unhurried. But Jackson’s political rivals didn’t care about any of this, their goal was to outdo Jackson and make him lose the election. People from the opposing party decided that the best way to get Jackson to lose was buy taunting and publicly shaming his wife because of her unofficial divorce with a man before Jackson. All of the stress that this created caused Rachel to fall into a deep state of depression and after her heart condition came back she died of a heart attack days after the election.
Likewise, Capulet and Lady Capulet want to marry Juliet off to Paris against her will just because he is a wealthy relative of the prince. Capulet says to Juliet, “A gentleman of noble parentage,/ Of fair demesnes, youthful, and nobly ligned, / Stuffed, as they say, with honorable parts”(3.5.191-193).
But the Capulets don’t necessarily want to do this to gain wealth, they are driven by their rivalry with the Montagues. Having Juliet marry Paris would make them outclass the Montagues since Paris is related to the Prince. Juliet, being pressured by her parents to marry a guy she doesn’t want to, fakes her death and later commit suicide along with Romeo. In both cases the two sides are so focused on surpassing each other that they neglected how their actions to do so affect other people
