I would like to apply for the Research assistant / Cardiovascular Genomics position offered at The Life Sciences Research Department at Magdi Yacoub Foundation. With my current experience as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) at the research department at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt-57357, I had one year of experience in the clinical research field, I wish to expand my technical knowledge in the research field, especially the lab-based research, and turn my focus towards the clinical applications of Molecular Biology, Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics which will best suit my career goals.
I graduated with a Bachelor degree of Pharmacy – Cairo University, with an Overall graduation grade of Very Good (B+). I decided to be a healthcare scientist during my bachelor study because I realized that life sciences, in general, are an essential branch in which innovations are important in all aspects of our life. I became more interested in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genomics, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry, I got excellent grades in Biotechnology and all Microbiology courses, very good grades in Cell Biology and all Biochemistry courses. I tried many times to seek any research experience, because this knowledge was important for me due to my interest in molecular biology and my goal of pursuing a career, but it was not permitted for students or members outside the academic staff, I never gave up looking until I received an internship at the Research and development department for two months at Egyptian Group for Pharmaceutical Industries (EGPI), where I Participated in transforming R&D product development efforts into the scalable manufacturing process, processing all lab tests required for the new formulations, performing instrumental analysis, physical testing and chemical analysis, carrying out literature reviews and researches, and executing tasks in compliance with current Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
I was exceptionally dynamic in numerous facets of university life. I am always interested in broadening my knowledge in different fields to be a skillfully versed student. I had received a number of internships and training and had an opportunity to participate in many student activities and workshops; I was a participant in the Drug Manufacture and Biotechnology workshop for the period of eight months in the 9th Student Conference on Pharmaceutical Studies (SCOPS); I attended a conference on the science of the future held by Community Scientific-Technological Activities (CSTA); workshop on the scientific research held by Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (EPSF); and a science fair at Zewail City for Sciences and Technology. Further to this; I received a summer internship program at the quality department at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and a summer training at SANOFI at the industrial affairs. Also, I completed three internships on the clinical pharmacy application at Ganzouri Specialized Hospital, Naser General Hospital, and School of Pharmacy at De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom, Furthermore, I remained engaged in university affairs, student activities, and volunteering, listed in more details in my up-to-date resume.
I want to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and to get involved in an active, ongoing research as the more I read about the National Institute of Genetics, the more I become interested in this field. I think that it is very important to understand the principles of population genetics and molecular evolution at the level of both genetics and Bioinformatics because it can lead researchers to many findings which are critical for understanding of the evolution, gene expression, protein evolution and genetic diseases.
I am convinced that my objectives to develop my research skills and my dedication and devotion to the science of genomics and molecular biology will lead to successful laboratory research work. I believe that I will gain the incomparable experience needed for my future career in science after working in your research facility, as well as the useful skills and knowledge of molecular evolution, population genetics, and Bioinformatics.
With all of my experience listed, I am looking for conveying my vocation to the following level. I am willing to overcome any obstacles; to relocate if needed, and to invest more energy to enhance my aptitudes and knowledge. The research assistant position offered by your organization is my chance to pursue my interests in more depth.
