Listening is salient feature of communication skills as most of the time we spend in listening than speaking.

Speaking process demands formulation of an idea and sentences through syntax & vocabulary and articulation. Articulation is the formation of clear & distinct sound in speech. There are three types of speaking situations. Interactive speaking: It involves face to face conversation.

Reading skills: It is a process of looking and identifying the symbols and extracting meaning from them. It can be silent or aloud. There are various types of reading like skimming, scanning, intensive, extensive and critical. By certain method and ways, we can master reading skill by reading books and making schedule to read.

Reading is the key to learning. Writing skills: Writing process involves encoding of message as we translate out thoughts into language. We require writing skills to communicate certain information or idea to utilize formats and content relevant to workplace. Good writing skills consist of completeness, correctness, credibility, clarity, conciseness, consideration, vitality. Few points are essential for effective writing like usage of simple words& short sentences, usage of jargon, appropriate punctuation, grammar, correct spelling is must. Avoid usage of unnecessary words & phrases.

Good LSRW skill lead to effective communication. It can develop one’s personality. Better speaking and writing skills are essential in business communication. One can outshine in many others by showcasing his/her communication skills but for communication skills you must have LSRW skills. Barriers to communication are Physical barrier Psychological barrier Semantic blocks Organizational barrier Physical barrier There are two type of physical barriers as follow Distance: long distance is obstacle for communication. Communication get hindered. Noise: External source affect the communication process, noise reduce the accuracy of communication.

Phycological barrier Phycological barrier are perception: It is difference in the information interpreted by receiver to others. Filtering: hiding some valuable information. Emotion: feeling of receiver while sending or interpreting a message Defensiveness: when a person feels threatened she/he refuse to communicate further. Semantic barrier: It is usage of difficult ; various language, word, symbol, figure, phrase that create semantic barrier.

Technical or unfamiliar language can create barriers. Language and message should be simple and composed. Organizational barrier: It is due to structure of organization, organizational goals, regulations and culture. Organizational barrier is consisting of poor planning, structure complexities that is difficult organizational structure causes problem in free flow of information, status difference, organizational distance, information overload and poor timing.
