Standardized testing should not determine a student’s educational value in school because of mandated testing and student’s performance level. Standardrized testing devalues the education children are getting in school because of too much pressure on students. Schools have been overtesting students from day 1 of the school year to accommodate the law that has been put on testing. Bell (2012) Writes that, “There’s something wrong with standardized testing when it just it isnt used as a criterion to let the school board know how much the students got to learn throughout the whole year. Instead turning into a compare and contrast competition of who succeeds to the top and who plummets to the bottom. Depending of each student’s rank in the outcome of results which determines how their entire future will turn out.”

This begs the question, do school boards have the slightest idea of how much is riding on a student’s shoulder because of the outcome of a crude exam? For exmaple, a student who has chosen rigourous courses in a means to “Succeed” even without school offering much guidance as to performance standards or what exactly it will take for students to succeed with no fear of failure in said system. If students are always under the impact that there is no option as failure who’s to say the propoganda put on school testing won’t create a utopian empire. When its outside of school hours its supposed to be the time to have fun, hangout with friends, and go home to watch your favorite show on Netflix. Instead, students are attending cram schools after hours to get ahead in their studies as the expensive price tag put on the services of said cram school and opposed to those who can’t even afford sending their child to another school.

Also, its easy to notice a dent in a student’s psyche when overstepping the boundary that comes to “prepping” said student goes to far. For example, if a student just quits and lacks the motiviation to even care about the final exam at the end of the year, the love of learning affects the view of how the child looks at the school. Stager (2003) writes, “Standarized testing has spread like a plague where democrats and republicans who hold office in government had caught a bad “case” of testing flu and didn’t think thoroughly before voting on the NCLB act George Bush passed back in 2001.” This illustrates the NCLB doesn’t help students in their academic progress and only addresses academic funding. Aswell as, French language education policy and programs branch at Ontario ministry of education and training only addresses how the system is doing not the individual student. Without some restrictions put on testing who knows when overstepping becomes too far?

If overstepping on the boundaries of a student’s emotional wellfare be revoked to form the path of succession for a crude test also cutting into the livilihood of a salary the teacher who’s depending on student’s performance level when is it ever going to end? Standardized testing should be avoided because depending on test results affect a teacher’s salary. Williams (2013) argues, “Standardized Testing Is Harming Student Learning which has dominated the public education system.

The recent standardized testing requirements are resulting in vast changes in the school enviroment. A large amount of stamina prepping teachers and students for testing. Which has taken the actual value of learning students efficently take away and results of poorer education in quality. The strategy set up for Standardrized testing has failed to improve education.” This show’s not only those who’ve spent money into manufactoring these tests but only the government caring what are the results of a bubble sheet graded by a piece of technology. Not only is a paycheck based on performance levels it is also spent somewhere else. For example, Pearson education wears facade on selling educational tools not educational freedom. While it may appear that standardized testing prepares students for said test it actually doesn’t help them prepare for the real world. Students are tested an estimated average about once a month, when some students are tested as frequently as twice a month or more that comes to mind. Students in general take more district tests than state tests.

Even so most of these skills learned in said “School” isnt even appliable in real life when students walk out of highschool graduation with their diplomas. For grades K-2, the ratio is 3 to 1 and for high school students the ratio is 2 to 1. Even different states and districts have a way of doing things that emphasizes testing over learning, with a lot of time devoted to test prep, practice tests, and pep rallies. Which to be honest when was the last time after graduation someone asked you what is the function of said calculus equation at the origin (0,0) of a 45-degree angle multiplied by its recipricol pertaining to the x and y value located at the y intersection? The answer is no one. Whilist everyone tries to get a good education and livlihood the money comes from the tax payers who pay the government to produce bubble sheets where these pages of standardized testing should be shredded and thrown into a landfill of gabarge where it belongs.
