The sustainable development goals are 17 goals set by the United Nations general assembly on September 25th, 2015. On this day countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. They address various global challenges we face, including issues such as inequality, climate, environmental degradation, poverty, prosperity peace and justice. And each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years (by 2030).(***) Below will explain briefly, the meaning and targets of each goal.
The first goal is to end all poverty in all its forms everywhere. More than 783 million people live below the international poverty line of US $1.90 a day. (***) The goal is to ensure that all people, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services, respecting worker and migrant rights, implementing a zero-tolerance policy for forced labor and child labor, and paying a living wage. (***) Zero hunger. They want to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
One in nine people in the world today, are undernourished and most of the world’s hungry people live in developing countries, where 12.9 per cent of the population is undernourished. (***) Good health and wellbeing, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Significant steps have been taken to increase life expectancy and reducing common killers, the goal is to reduce the maternal morality ratio to less than 70 per 100,00 live births.(***) Quality education, providing quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Investment in education expands business opportunities, creating new markets and customer bases, resulting in a further skilled workforce, leading to better wages and more disposal income.
(***) Gender equality, to accomplish gender equality and empower all women and girls. Women, especially in developing countries are underrepresented in power and decision-making roles. They receive unequal pay for equal work, and they continue to be targets of physical and sexual abuse, providing people with equal access to things such as education, health care, work and representation, will fuel sustainable economies and benefit society and the world.(***) Clean water and sanitization, this is to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. By 2030, the goal wants to achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.(***) Affordable and clean energy. To establish access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. There is a responsibility with all businesses to care for the climate and foster plans for the generation and use of sustainable energy sources.

This is to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.(***) Industry innovation and infrastructure. To make cities and all settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The Global Compact Cities Program is dedicated to the promotion and adoption of the Global Compact Ten Principles by cities and provides a framework for translating the principles into day-to-day urban governance and management.(***) Responsible consumption and production. To Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
A company’s entire supply chain can make a significant impact in promoting human rights, fair labor practices, environmental progress and anti-corruption policies.(***) Climate action. To Strengthen the means of implementation and replenish the global partnership for sustainable development, endorsing responsible business practices and committing to sustainability in their own operations is the first step, but facing some of the toughest global challenges must be achieved by working together(***)
