This case that had taken place in the late 1990’s into the early 2000’s is about the financial fraud that was led and constructed at the Sunbeam Corporation by the infamous, Albert Dunlap.
The Board of Directors at the Sunbeam Corporation had hired the financial specialist Albert Dunlap to turn their corporation around in trying to raise their market price sales. When it was noticed that Albert Dunlap was making unnecessary changes within the company, they had begun to launch an audit investigation on their own. In their findings, they had established that they were definitely misled along with the majority of their investors who had lost millions or even billions of their dollars from their investments. It was also found that the CEO, Albert Dunlap and his newly hired executives had set out from the beginning to deceive and manipulate the company as planned. Plus, the External Auditor named Arthur Andersen was among one of those who also was closely involved as well.
