In november of 1940s ‘Franklin D Roosevelt was elected president. In 1941 with the japanese bombing of pearl harbor the united states enter WWII . Roosevelt and the country faced a major conflict. In 1945 WWII would end , but a different kind of war would begin. Born out of mistrust from former allies . The united states and russia enter into a decades long struggle for their ideology around the world , referring as the cold war . The events that happened through the entire decade changed america personality forever. The personality of america was worried and cynical because they all though the war was going to end but instead a new war begin.

America entered the european war against hitler’s nazi germany to defend against japan’s thrust into the pacific in the 1941.’(The decade 1940-1950). End of war I germany was punished by the victorious allies led by france , great britain , and the united states.’( Pendergast). Punished by a new war that would begin. Roosevelt extended a new lend-lease program supplying military equipment to the british. The british benefit it because it was cheaper to the british and didn’t have to spend a lot of money.(Pendergast). The interventionists thought that to protect american interests was to be an active abroad.(Pendergast).

If it wasn’t protected american interests would of been destroyed. World war II ended with the united states as the world’s only economic and nuclear superpower.(Lewis). America was the only people who had nuclear superpower. About 132 million people lived in the united states as the 1940s begin. (Wills). As the new decade begin new population of people begin to spread as in the early 1940s. Americans in the 1940s were better educated in the previous years all but 5% percent of americans could only read or write.(Wills).Not everybody could read or write because of education. The economic led millions of people to lose their jobs , and their savings accounts and also their homes.(Wills). The economic group was taking over so it wouldn’t be nothing left.

During the 1940s president Franklin D roosevelt did a four freedoms speech . The following was that united was that united states must and shall reject isolationism and also face threat of german world conquest. Freedom of speech , Freedom of religion , Freedom from fear , Freedom from want.(FourFreedomSpeech).The four basic anchor world under protected by free countries.(‘’Roosevelt’s four freedoms of speech). Franklin is saying that you have your own freedom in a way . ETC freedom of speech meaning free to say anything you like to say.

Summer 1942 , the allies attacked the german and italian armies in africa , gradually pushing back the atis. Seizing africa and the middle east in 1943 , the allies quickly invaded sicily and mainland italy , prompting the overthrow of italian dictator mussolini and signaling italy’s exit from the allied focus shifted to the invasion of normandy.(world war II land , air and sea). The allies came through taking over everything pushing and taking them to other locations . and spreaded through the midddle east in 1943.

After following a costly victory at okinawa and for the threat of a protracted battle for japan. President harry truman authorized the dropping’s of an atomic bomb on japanese city of hiroshima on august 6, 1945.(World war II land , Air and sea). The president harry truman thinking that let drop the bomb in the city giving them more victory. Soviet blockade of berlin generated debate among americans as how best to resolve the crisis. Basically sovient sending a letter to the president classifying that what would be the best way to resolve the crisis and also from the debate of the americans. The discovery of freedom was important for four main reason’s . first marked a new era for woman political commentators.

It’s publication in 1943 not only garned attention in it’s own right but also coincided with publications. (Rose). It was a big thing and especally for the women who aint have much to do . during the 1940s the us resident population grew with over 192,164,569 residents. The us census was responsible for reporting the resident population of how many people lived in each household or in the area. The us census grew as later in the 1940s grew. When they was on the way while doing an suprise attack they got damaged not knowing what happened unplanned. On august 24 , 1949 that was the day where the north atlantic treaty was signed.

After the world war II destruction the nation of europe struggle for to rebuild their economies and to ensure the security. During the 1940s when preident Franklin D Roosevelt did the lend lease program about more than 30 countries signed up for the program knowing that some of them didn’t have money or goods to trade but the program came in good for everybody. during (1939-1945) the strategies based on the keynesian economics to help the nation recover from the great depression and for to meet the challenges of the world war II.

Veterans of world war II returned to a prosperous economy but an uncertain social and political climate. Returning soldiers also had an impact on labor relations.(worldwarII). When they returned it wasn’t much left especially on the labor relations it was a struggle. The minorties and the women in the workplace were quickly replaced by war vertans. In the first years after war world II housing and employment and educational opportunities for vertans became a major focus of public policy.

The focus on opportunities for returning vertans often mean returning women to their prewar role as an unpaid domestic workers. And to despite president Harry S Truman’s efforts towards to adress racial inequality , minorties made little headway against those determined to slow civil rights progress. Many returning soldiers came to found opportunities and government support to achieve the new american dream.(WorldWarII). They replaced the women soldiers for returning vertans because they woudn’t have to pay the women and for the vertans thats returning they had a reliable income source and government support.

The americans were eager for a return to peace and prosperity , and a few expected an war and devastated europe to become main the theater of conflict anytime in the near future.(Lewis). The wartime cooperation among nations had not been perfect. Rivalries has surfaced in the race to berlin and in the effort to recruit and capture german scientists involved with the new jet propulsion and v-2 rocket technology.(Tandy). According to the census of 1940s , almost 90% percent of americans were european ancestry and little less than 10% percent of population was african american.(Wills). Man struggle against authority served as rose wilder lane’s perosnal manifesto, an explanation of a political philosophy built over a life time of travel and publication.(Rose). Keynesian economic theory was the primary guide of u.s public policy. This theory took it’s name from it’s founder english econonmist journalist and francier John Maynard Keynes. His influential work the general theory of employment , interest and money.(Rose). A voice of opposition surfaced in 1944. However which when austrian economist friedrich hayek published the road to serfdom.

Fewer than three million men and women begin the revolution , not two centuries ago. Small percentage of it’s population have been able to use their natural freedom to the greatest extent in these following states. To lesser extent in the british commonwealth.(Cynthia).

Not everyone was able to use their freedom as they wanted to but only small percent of people could of. Now through the whole decade into conclusion that during the 1940s it was much going on and especally with the pearl harbor and then transfering to world war II and then woman soldiers getting replaced by war vertans thats getting better government benefits while they retuning and then with Franklin D Roosevelt putting out a lend lease program that’s allowing other countries even though many countries didn’t have any money and it was cheaper for them because they were able to get lots of weapons and were able to pay a small amount for it until they wanted to end their contract. During the 1940s and through out the decade many things changed and was easier for some people and many people didn’t like what the president was doing and president Franklin D. Roosevelt didn’t do all what the americans wanted. Through out the entire decade through the pearl harbor and war world II i say that it wasn’t an easy time and year for the american’s. Everyone was good at diffrent times through out the war and war after another. Through the tough and rought times the americans suffered until today’s decade. Which is better and where some locations of the world where so of this still occur’s at .
