For the past couple hundred years there has always been a separation of ideologies/beliefs. While some may have believed that the strict conservative way is the best way to go, there were others who believed that the more flexible liberal ideology is correct. Being a conservative means that you hold traditional attitudes and values and are cautious about change or innovation. While on the other hand a liberal’s ideals are based of the willingness to discard traditional values and create more open-minded laws.

Although I came out at the left side of the horizontal axis, I would not admit to agree with everything that is based of liberal ideals. While I do believe that the government should not take advantage of its power by placing laws that will undermine our freedom, there should always be regulation to some extent, because without regulation the possibility of anarchy or “chaos” will be inevitable. The government’s main objective should be to protect its people from poverty, disease and discrimination from others. The passing of for example the civil rights helped a minority group overcome the oppression caused by others, by eradicating all the laws and regulations that separated people from different ethnicity.

Although these laws have been present for many years now the same problems still occurs, The issue with immigration has been a very heated topic these past 5 years, especially with the trump administration where he almost passed an act removing the daca program which supported all those undocumented children who just wanted to live the American dream. Since we as a country can’t open our gates for everyone we must develop more solutions for those undocumented who are willing to be functioning members of the American society.

Such solutions can be to place a tariff on those undocumented who make an income and have established a stable financial status. This tariff shouldn’t be much, but more as a way to prove that they are willing to take the same responsibilities as an average American citizen. The tariff placed can even be for programs that will help assimilate them into society, or facilitate the process of obtaining residency or citizenship. I believe that members of such programs should not be exiled to their original country unless they have broken laws or created a criminal record. Another sensitive issue is that whether using the death penalty is moral or immoral.

The death penalty is a punishment given to criminals who have taken one or many innocent lives. To some this may seem like the most appropriate way to punish a criminal, but I would have to disagree with this for the reason that we cannot play as the executioner because not only will it be immoral but it will bring us to the same level as them. Another issue with this could be that there is a risk that the person sentence with the death penalty might turn out to be innocent and due to wrong information or even a mistake in the system this person will lose his/her life. One point of view which I would have to disagree with is the issue about assisted suicide. I don’t agree with this because it will be both immoral and unethical to end someone’s life even if terminally ill or give the power to a person to take their own life with the help of euthanasia and a doctor. The legalizing of this can lead to a doctor killing a patient that is non-critical and.

Another reason why I would have to disagree with this is due to the fact that through religion this is the worst sin you can commit since this devalues the human life. The problem with who can purchase and how many gun control laws have been passed has always been an issue but during the past two years there has been a more rise in public shooting. For example the school shooting in Parkland Florida, many could argue that this was caused due to not enough laws preventing people unfit to purchase a firearm. Adding more gun control laws does not mean that the right to own a firearm is being taken away , instead it is making society more secure by being more selective on who can own a firearm, in order to reduce the risk of shootings that will later be justified by people claiming insanity in court. The government should also be able to interfere with the economy by placing regulations that will help protect citizens from big greedy businesses, meaning that a company cannot over price products just because they want to. If the government does not regulate the business there is a risk of monopolies rising again and taking over all of the competition, leading to many small businesses going bankrupt.

The regulation of all the areas of the economy is needed in order to provide an equal playing field for all. I believe that people should be provided with either free or low cost for healthcare, I believe that the right to live should not be decided by the amount of money that you make. Although yes we must have to implement a greater amount of taxation in order to provide for all the medical expenses, but it wouldn’t drastically affect the citizens. The tariff can even be 2 dollars from everyone in the United States and it will bring in millions of dollars that can be used by those in need. Another solution to this could be to regulate the pricing of medicine, with the regulation of medicine, insurance companies will have to spend less money. The idea of having college being paid for may seem far fetched but in reality all we need to do is willing to pay an extra tax. The possibility of having free education can come to be beneficial to both the economy and to the person, for the reason that we will have a more educated population who is able to both produce and obtain jobs easier.

This could help the national economy by students no longer taking out money that they don’t have in in order to complete their career. The rising of taxes can help produce more jobs and help those in need and poverty in order to create a more equal and just society. I believe that there is no short cut to obtaining a more equalitarian society, so we as citizens must be educated in what freedom we deserve to have in order to prevent the abusement of the government’s power over us.
