The sunset was near colorful and was the prime time for shark fishing. I tossed my line back out into the depths of the Pacific Ocean, then sat and watched my rod.
“YOU HAVE A BITE!”, yelled one of the youthful children fishing next to me. I grabbed the pole and yanked it high up in the air again in hopes of something intimidating pulling back. I suddenly sensed the strongest jerk back and I was so thrilled. I knew I was on to a thresher. My adrenaline pumping, muscles tensing, and heart racing as I spun the spool of line in towards me I saw beneath the surface of the water something other than a thresher.
At this moment I gaffed the creature; pulling up its bloody mess. It was a two foot long sixteen pound bat-ray. Part of the stingray family, they have a poisonously sharp stinger on its tail. The crowd around me went wild and wanted to take pictures and videos of what I had caught. I was so proud of catching my first stingray so I gave him a kiss on top of his petite head.
After this enormous catch, I packed up and headed back home to cook some fresh tender stingray.
