The translator should not try to keep the stylistic device indicated in the sentence, but reproduce its function in the target language. It should not be forgotten that almost all stylistic devices are multifunctional. This is similar to the fact that polysemantic words in English and Russian do not coincide in their lexical-semantic variants, and the same when they differ in the function of an identical stylistic device. Thus, when comparing stylistic devices, we can easily identify complete correspondence, partial correspondence and even sometimes the lack of correspondence and their functions.
The studies we have tried show that the speeches of American and British politicians are characterized by a multitude of devices that make the speech more convincing and expressive. The study shows that basically the following stylistic devices are used in political speeches, parallel constructions, repetition, enumeration, antitheses, gradation, polysyndetone, asindetone, inversion and rhetorical question.
