Scientists had given their definition of stress based on research. One of the definition is the non-specific control of the body to any change made upon it (Selye, 1956). Stress also can be defined as the practical and exciting situation in which a person faces a requirement or complex demand and makes either an emotional, physical or cognitive reaction that can be constructive or destructive (Rass et al, 1997).
“Stress”, the word refers to a state of deviation or variation from general situation due to an unplanned or improperly designed system or work process causes failures and cannot achieve the goals. A complete freedom from stress is death (Selye, 1974). Besides, Lazarus (2006) says stress is a situation which comprising of three aspects, involving a subjective view of psychological stress and underlines interplay in the environment and between people.
Besides the above mentioned, definition, stress also allows us to be the best and the body needs to react appropriately when experiencing a physical warning in order to continue alive. An acute experience of the stressful situation is not harmful, but the long-term stress can lead to being dangerous to one’s health (Beatty, 2001).
According to Kyriacou ; Sutcliffe (1978) stress as a negative emotional experience being triggered by the teacher’s perception that their work situation constituted a threat to their self-esteem or well-being. In addition, a number of researchers have focused on the notion of teacher burnout, which is seen to be a state of emotional, physical and attitudinal exhaustion which may develop in teachers who have been unsuccessful in coping effectively with stress in long period of time (Guglielmi & Tatrow, 1998; Vandenberghe & Huberman, 1999).
