The pancreas is an organ located in the abdomen that is responsible for secreting enzymes that break down food, so it is ready for absorption in the intestines and, also secreting insulin to aid in the regulation of glucose levels in the blood.
Medication which induces liver enzymes can reduce the efficacy of combined hormonal contraception, progestogen-only contraception pills (POCPs) and implants but do not appear to reduce the efficacy of progestogen-only injectables or the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS). IUD more likely to cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Not hormonal and neither is sterilization. IUD allows for more flexibility as it can be taken out after 10 years (only some are ten years, most tend to be 5 I think) and allow for normal fertility afterwards. Doesn’t stop ovulation, just stops fertilisation and implantation.
